About the Author

Who is CJS Hayward? A man, made in the image of God and summoned to ascend to the heights of the likeness of God. A great sinner, and in fact, the chief of sinners. One who is, moment by moment, in each ascetical decision choosing to become one notch more a creature of Heaven, or one notch more a creature of Hell, until his life is spent and his eternal choice between Heaven and Hell is eternally sealed.

Man, mediator, midpoint, microcosm, measure: as man he is the recapitulation of the entire spiritual and visible creation, having physical life in common with plants and animals, and noetic life in common with rank upon rank of angel host, and forever in the shadow of that moment when Heaven kissed earth and God and the Son of God became Man and the Son of Man that men and the sons of men might become gods and the sons of God.

He’s also a writer with a few hobbies, but really, there are more important things in life.

Readers of apologists like C.S. Lewis, G.K. Chesterton and Peter Kreeft, contemporary Orthodox authors such as Met. KALLISTOS Ware, and classic authors like St. John Chrysostom will find much food for spiritual reflection.

Here are ten things you might not know about me:

  1. I am considered to be in the profoundly gifted range. The incidence is estimated at somewhere between 1 in 1,000,000 and 1 in 3,000,000, with some estimates more like 1 in 5,000,000. This means that most people have never met someone as talented as me.
  2. I have lived in the U.S., Malaysia, England, and France.
  3. I have read the Bible in a total of seven ancient, medieval, and modern languages, including Russian and Slavonic, and old standbys like Latin and Greek.
  4. I have master’s degrees bridging math and computers (UIUC) and philosophy and theology (Cambridge), plus an advanced undergraduate certificate from the Sorbonne.
  5. I’ve really drilled down on writing about God and man. I have a massive website at cjshayward.com, and 47 titles at amazon.com/author/cjshayward.
  6. I was first formed as an author by C.S. Lewis, and he’s had enough of an influence on me (note: some people think I am more talented), and I’ve written enough, that my name has trilettered on Facebook as CSH (i.e. “C.S. Hayward”) instead of the initials I use of CJSH.
  7. My collection is a genuine passport to worlds of wonder.
  8. I have made a sort of extra career of building bridges with people, and articulated works about how to build bridges that other people have deemed important. One of my books, a top seller, is entitled Profoundly Gifted Survival Guide. I honestly don’t see why.
  9. Three of the works I consider best are Doxology, The Angelic Letters (meant to be a Heavenly counterpart to C.S. Lewis’s The Screwtape Letters), and The Consolation of Theology (a variant on a classic C.S. Lewis was fond of).
  10. Lastly I am seeking to enter monasticism as a repentant sinner, to repent of my sins for the rest of my life.
